Set Up PC Hardware

The Setup PC Hardware function allows the adding of new hardware devices using the Device Manager window.

When using the Setup PC Hardware function, hardware devices may require changes to software configuration settings to ensure the proper functionality of the device being installed. For example, when a cash drawer is added, the cash drawer may require a change to the port settings. The logged-in employee must have the security rights and ability to make system changes which includes adding or removing devices, or changing the configuration settings.

 

The types of devices that may be set up include:

 

  • POS Printer

  • MICR

  • Cash Drawer

  • Customer Station

  • Scanner

  • Pole Display

Procedure to Add a Device

To add a device, follow the steps below:

 

  1. From the Menu, select PC Setup, Setup PC Hardware. The 'Device Manager' window displays.

  2. Click 'System Devices'. The 'Configure Device' and 'Remove' buttons are enabled.

  3. Click 'Add' and the 'Add New Hardware Wizard – Introduction Screen' displays.


  4. Click 'Next'.  The 'Add New Hardware Wizard – PartsWatch Devices' screen displays.

  5. From the list on the left side of the window, click on a device to highlight it. The list on the right changes.


  6. Click on a device in the right hand window to highlight it. Click 'Next'. The 'Add New Hardware Wizard – Configure Device' screen displays.

  7. If no changes are needed, click 'Next', and then click 'Finish'. Based on the type of device being installed, the 'Configure Device' window displays to make necessary changes.


  8. Make only the necessary changes. Do not change other values.

  9. Click 'Next'.The 'Configuration' screen displays if changes are necessary.


  10. Make only the necessary changes. Do not change other values.

  11. Click 'Apply'. A message displays stating that the hardware configuration has changed and that the system needs to be restarted in order for the hardware to be properly registered with the system.

  12. Click 'OK'.
