Price Update Overview
Price Updating allows the managing of the changing prices of thousands of parts and adjust part pricing according to the latest prices issued by both public and private price sources. Rather than updating each part manually, all that is needed is to create a pricing structure, run the Price Update and apply the changes to a specific line.
Price Updating on PartsWatch uses Internet technology for flexibility, speed and convenience. All updates are resident on a server and are available for update at any time for convenience. Setup allows the filtering of part selection by 'Line', 'Part', 'Group', 'PN Code', and 'Class Code' and to update prices by a level, percent, GP%, or amount. Once set up, manufacturer prices can be edited and updated to a saved file, a new table with an effective date or to the current prices.
Note: For multi-store environments, this setup is per location.
A System Message is logged on the System Messages screen when a price level changes for a manufacturer. The program notifies with the System Message, 'Manufacturer Pricing Level Change', which indicates the manufacturer name, line code, price level change and the existing price level setup on the Internet Price Update screen prior to the change.
The End-of-Day routine checks System Messages for the 'Manufacturer Pricing Level Change' message. When a message exists, the 'Price Update Warnings Report' prints within the other End-of-Day Reports. This exception report provides details of the logged System Message. The report, however, does not reprint with historical reports.
The following flowchart provides a brief overview of pricing updating.

Price Update Setup enables the reviewing of all the lines available within the pricing database and the selecting of the ones to be updated. In addition, set the "rules" for each line. This includes selecting which price levels to update, which parts to update within each line and whether to load the prices into the 'New' (temporary) file before loading into your 'Current' inventory file.
Review Update Setup enables the moving of prices to the 'New' file and then the 'Current' file, or directly to the 'Current' file.
